The Role
We are looking for a passionate Software Engineer Intern - MERN eager to build real-world software products. You'll work closely with experienced engineers and the founding team to develop scalable web applications, contribute to product features, and gain hands-on experience across the entire development lifecycle.
This internship is ideal for students or recent graduates who want practical startup experience and are excited about building products used by customers globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and maintaining web applications using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js)
- Build responsive and user-friendly interfaces using React.js
- Develop backend APIs using Node.js and Express.js
- Work with MongoDB for data modeling, querying, and database operations
- Participate in feature development, debugging, and testing
- Collaborate with designers, product managers, and senior developers
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
- Participate in code reviews and Agile development processes
- Learn modern software engineering best practices and contribute to continuous improvements
Required Skills
- Good understanding of JavaScript (ES6+)
- Basic knowledge of React.js
- Basic understanding of Node.js and Express.js
- Familiarity with MongoDB or NoSQL databases
- Understanding of HTML5 and CSS3
- Knowledge of REST APIs
- Familiarity with Git and GitHub
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced startup environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Academic or personal projects built using the MERN stack
- Familiarity with Redux or Context API
- Basic understanding of Docker or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Exposure to Agile development methodologies
Bonus Points
- Built and deployed personal or academic projects
- Contributions to open-source projects
- Experience with AI-powered applications or APIs
- Interest in startups, SaaS platforms, or marketplace products
- Passion for solving real-world problems through technology
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field (Graduation completed is mandatory).
- Hands-on experience building applications using MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js.
- Strong understanding of JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
- Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience deploying applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Experience with Redux, Context API, or other state management libraries.
- Portfolio, GitHub repositories, or live projects demonstrating MERN Stack development.
Eligibility
- Graduation must be completed.
- Must be available for a full-time internship (3–6 months).
- Should be capable of contributing to production-level development from the beginning.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working in a startup environment with ownership of assigned tasks.
